Counselling and

I consider myself
to be a warm and caring person, offering a one-to-one counselling
service in a private setting for individuals seeking professional help
My counselling approach is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). Although
I work mainly with CBT, I also have experience and training in other
approaches, therefore, I am able to adapt my therapy sessions depending
on what the client needs or requires.
As we are all aware life is full of ups and downs, often our friends and
family can offer us help and support. However, sometimes this is not
enough nor suitable, at this point to seek professional help may be
useful. During a counselling session you will be given the time and the
space to speak about issues that concern you and together with the
counsellor explore these difficulties in a confidential, non-judgemental
environment.
CBT works on the negative thought processes and beliefs that individuals
hold about themselves, their future, the world and others. Negative
thoughts and beliefs can have the effect of making us feel low and
unable to cope, therefore, having a knock on effect on the way we may
react to particular situations.
As a CBT counsellor I work with my clients assisting them to understand
their difficulties and their underlying beliefs. Although I do not give
clients advice, I offer support and encouragement as they begin to learn
to develop new ways of thinking and approaching their problems. With
improved ways of thinking towards problematic issues the client will
experience enhanced emotions and feelings, as a consequence the client
will develop and perform new, more positive behaviours. This can be
achieved by empowering the client to bring about change.
CBT works well with conditions such as Low Self-Esteem, Depression,
Eating Disorders, Addictions and Anxiety Disorders which include Panic
Attacks, Social Phobias, Post Traumatic Stress Disorders and Obsessive
Compulsive Disorders.
I am based in Brentwood's Town Centre where I practice within an office
at the Brentwood Clinic for Complementary Medicine. However, I do work
from home on various days and times.
